The Board of Directors is responsible for governance and establishing policy that aligns with the school’s mission, vision and strategic goals. The Board of Directors provides fiduciary oversight of the school’s operations. The Board of Directors is responsible for supporting and leading long-range strategic planning and fundraising efforts to ensure Tidewater Academy’s future growth and sustainability.
The Board of Directors is an elected committee made up of 6-9 members. Its members can include alumni, current and past parents, family members, and/or community stakeholders who have professional expertise and perspective with in-depth oversight to specific areas. Officers are nominated and elected by the full Board each year.

Strategic Plan
We are committed to making decisions that support the mission and purpose of the school. The overall goal of our strategic plan is to ensure that TA is available to future generations. The strategic planning process is developed through planning sessions as a committee. The Strategic Planning Committee gathers data and feedback to develop a shared vision for the future. In February 2025, the Board of Directors unanimously approved a new strategic plan.
The Strategic Plan highlights eight strategic objectives to ensure that all aspects of the TA experience align with the school's mission and purpose. We look forward to continuing our work to ensure effective leadership and oversight, as well as advocating for the interests of our students and community.
