Lisa Seward

Upper School Math

First, I would like to say how excited I am to return to TA. I grew up in Wakefield and graduated from TA in 1986.  My husband, Tony, along with my two oldest sons are also alumni.  Tidewater provided me with my first teaching experience as a career switcher and I soon found that I loved being in the classroom.  During my time, I also discovered a love of coaching softball, preparing students for forensics competitions, and producing theatrical performances.

I consider teaching one of the best jobs in the world.  With 20 years of teaching experience, I am excited to show students that algebra, geometry, and calculus are more than problems in a textbook; they provide foundational principles connected to real life.

When I am not teaching, I can be found spending time with family and friends, playing pickleball, taking a new class, traveling, and reading when time allows. One thing that people find strange about me is that I hold a Master’s degree in English, but I teach high school math.  The truth is that I love sharing both with students.
