Jordan Imoehl

First Grade

My name is Jordan Imoehl. I received my Bachelor's and Master's in Teaching at Christopher Newport University in Newport News. Before taking some time off to grow and raise my family, I taught for 4 years. I taught kindergarten for 3 years in Alexandria, Virginia and first grade in Lincoln, Nebraska. I joined Tidewater Academy as part of the after school program and then became a paraprofessional in the Pre-K room. I am excited to join the Tidewater family as a first grade teacher! Much like camping, I believe education should focus on experiences, community building, and resilience.  This belief drives my teaching philosophy of creating an environment that is safe, kind, and built on risk taking and learning from our mistakes. I currently live in Elberon with my husband, daughter (Charlotte), son (Henry), 2 dogs and 30 chickens. When I am not teaching, I enjoy trying new recipes with things from the garden, hanging out with the chickens, reading, being at the beach, camping, and spending time with my family and friends.
