Tidewater Academy offers students a college-preparatory foundation fostering a love of learning, instilling family core values and good citizenship in their communities. This education best prepares students for the challenges that they may face in an ever-changing world.
A Tidewater Academy education is designed to grow, develop, and change as is determined by the influx of new world knowledge, new programs of study, new faculty, new resources, and new community opportunities. The Board of Directors, Head of School, and faculty provide students with a safe 21st century learning environment. Tidewater Academy, located in the town of Wakefield, Virginia, is a college preparatory day school offering a preschool through high school curriculum. Students at Tidewater Academy enjoy a dynamic learning community that is challenging, engaging, and caring. Within this exceptional learning community, students are provided an educational foundation that emphasizes academics, athletics, and the core values of family, community, and good citizenship, while meeting challenging requirements in the traditional disciplines of English, mathematics, science, history, foreign language, and the arts. There are opportunities to pursue special interest subjects through electives, as well as develop leadership skills through student government and community service opportunities. Special events, field trips, guest speakers, special assemblies, and independent study projects provide education beyond the classroom. Tidewater Academy also uses athletic fields owned by the Town of Wakefield and the Town of Waverly for athletic competitions, and the Wakefield Foundation building for school-wide dramatic and musical performances.
Before /After School Care & Summer Care:
Supervised before/after school care as well as summer care are available Monday-Friday for ages 3 to 12, and on days of early dismissal as needed. Homework time , outdoor/indoor play, computer, crafts, and special field trips are offered during before/after care and summer care.
